About us

We are the people who built Leasehold Clarity for themselves.

Murphy Thompson Moore LLP has spent over 30 years providing accounting, tax, and company secretarial services to businesses across the UK. We are also leasehold directors. That combination is exactly why Leasehold Clarity exists.

Murphy Thompson Moore LLP

30 years of professional services expertise. Applied to your building.

Murphy Thompson Moore LLP was established in Manchester to provide serious, professional accounting, tax advisory, and company secretarial services to businesses that needed more than a spreadsheet and an annual return. Over three decades, we've helped hundreds of businesses keep their records right, their obligations met, and their directors properly informed.

Leasehold clients were always a significant part of that practice. RTM companies, RMCs, management companies — we've advised them on company secretarial compliance, prepared their annual accounts, handled their Companies House obligations, and helped them understand what the law requires of them. We know the territory well.

What we also discovered, over years of advising these clients, is that most of them were doing the underlying organisation of their building entirely wrong — not through incompetence, but because there was no infrastructure available to them to do it right.

Transparency

Leaseholders deserve to understand exactly how their money is managed and what decisions are made on their behalf. We built Leasehold Clarity to make opacity impossible.

Accessibility

Professional-grade infrastructure should not be the exclusive preserve of large managing agents. A director running a six-flat block deserves the same tools as a portfolio manager.

Professional integrity

We are a regulated professional services firm. Everything we build is underpinned by the same standards of accuracy and care that govern our accountancy and company secretarial work.

The people behind the platform.

Leasehold Clarity was built by two partners who are also, personally, RTM directors. This is not a product built by engineers imagining what directors need — it is a product built by directors who happen to be professional advisors.

Doug Murphy

Senior Partner, MTM LLP & Co-founder, Leasehold Clarity

Doug leads the accounting, tax, and business advisory practice at Murphy Thompson Moore. With over 25 years in professional practice, he has helped hundreds of SMEs and leasehold companies manage their financial and statutory obligations properly.

He became an RTM director after frustrations with poor management at his own building — and immediately recognised that the problem was structural, not personal. No director had the tools to do the job properly. That recognition became Leasehold Clarity.

Why this matters. Right now.

The UK leasehold sector is going through its most significant period of reform in decades. Directors need better tools, not just better legislation.

Reform is coming. Directors need to be ready.

The Leasehold and Freehold Reform Act is reshaping the landscape. RTM rights are being extended, enfranchisement is being simplified, and service charge transparency requirements are increasing. Directors who have proper infrastructure are well placed. Those who don't are not.

Even when you use a managing agent, you need your own infrastructure.

If your compliance evidence, safety records, and service charge accounts live only in your agent's systems, you have no independent position. You cannot hold the agent accountable, you cannot switch without starting from scratch, and if something is missed you will likely be last to know. Independent infrastructure is not about distrust — it is about governance.

Better-run buildings are better investments.

A building with clear records, a compliant company, and well-managed finances is worth more — to every leaseholder who owns a flat there. The investment case for proper infrastructure isn't just about reducing stress. It's about protecting the value of what you own.
